A 2008 CBC Interview on Election Debates
I did about the Greens being excluded from the election Leaders Debate
I'm sharing this because the Greens were excluded again in the 2025 election television debates. This time they were turfed on a technicality about the rules, rules set by a faceless Commission.
There are reasons to exclude some crackpot parties and their leaders from national television debates.
In 2008 the Greens were not a crackpot party. In fact they were out polling the NDP in Toronto. Elizabeth May was, and still is an outstanding MP and Party Leader of the Greens.
This interview was done at a time when I was a recognized political blogger, commentator and speaker. I had a voice then and I have one now. The irony is I've lost my larnyx to cancer so I don't have much of an auditory voice.
But I still have this Substack and the Reboot Alberta Facebook Group as my way to make myself “heard.”
Thanks to all the subscribers to Citizenship Matters and the 7000 who participate in Reboot Alberta Facebook Group for still enabling me to still have “say” about politics in Canada and especially in Alberta.
I'm optimistic that Carney is a different kind of leader. We have the chance to see real change in how we are governed under his refreshing approach to statecraft.
But now take five minutes and listen to my political rant circa 2008. I look forward to your comments.

Having conversations about the environment are expressing the bias of all the denialism that stops improving lifestyles in our Canadian society. Water, air, land, and all the critters we share the earth with are sacred. Then there is Gaza. The ultimate denialism of our complicity in evils. How do we fix stupid?
Thanks Ken.
