The UCP is unraveling under Smith

With the rise of the Republican Party of Alberta the UCP collusion against Alberta staying in Canada has a new face, place, and pace.

The Jason Kenney driven desire to merge the Wildrose and Progressive Conservative parties to avoid splitting the vote and thereby electing an NDP government was accomplished. The Kenney coalition was successful in defeating the NDP in the last election, without him.

Since then, the commitment of Alberta Conservatives to keep coalesced, is waning under Danielle Smith.

HUBRIS NOT SERVICE

Smith knows her party leadership is in trouble, for so many reasons from scandals, allegations of corruption and even a criminal investigation. Her diversionary tactic has been to revert to the tried, true, and tiresome technique of blame Ottawa.

She has concentrated her focus on throwing toddler-like temper tantrums at the federal government. Why? Because it's the traditional response in Alberta Conservative politics and it panders to her base.

But she's just as motivated by her admission that she's willing to risk Alberta separation, along with the well-being and prosperity of her “subjects,” the citizens of Alberta, to save her personal political skin. She's escalating the culture wars between us, being Alberta, and them, being the rest of Canada, as she is desperately trying to fend off the fragmentation of her party base.

NEWS FLASH

Too late Danielle. The fundamentalist Evangelical Christian zealots of Take Back Alberta are abandoning her. The separatist 51st State advocates are becoming more estranged from the UCP as they increasingly align with the radical Republican Party of Canada.

SO NOW WHAT?

What is emerging is an Alberta hardcore "far right version of the extremists American Tea Party that brought Trump to power, twice. We have many groups of strident Separatists, many of which are dead serious about Alberta becoming the 51st State in Trump's America.

In contrast, the “woke” Albertans, who are by far the majority, are finally waking up to the threating reality of the Separatists movement. They have evolved from apathy and indifference to dismissive eye-rolling at what they originally labeled as a ridiculous fringe group of disgruntled extremists.

Now we awoken Albertans are afraid of the consequences of the Separatist threat to the future of Alberta and their identity as Canadians. That fear has quickly turned into anger at the arrogance of the foolish, reckless, and dangerous self-appointed agitators pitting Alberta against Canada.

That anger is turning into energy and action. Citizens are becoming dedicated to defeating and deleting the Alberta Separatists movement in all its forms and functions. That anti-separatist enthusiasm is rallying around the FOREVER CANADA Referendum Petition campaign. That democracy enhancing project is lead by former Alberta Deputy Premier, Thomas Lukaszuk.

I am part of the core FOREVER CANADA organizing group along with others. We are waiting for the certification of our petition application by Elections Alberta. Then we can start gathering in-person signatures to Keep Alberta in Canada.
