THE PAUSE THAT'S REFLECTIVE?
The Smith Regime Blinks on their Book Ban Brouhaha. Will they actually open their eyes on this issue?
The incompetence of the Smith Regime rises up yet again. The idiotic authoritarian Ministerial Order school library book ban is on “pause.” So says the Minister of Education.
EDMONTON PUBLIC VICIOUSLY COMPLIES
The Edmonton Public School Board identified over 200 book titles they had removed from their schools. A truly astonishing compilation of some high quality literature was included.
The Premier was not amused, calling the big bad book banning an act of “vicious compliance.” She offered to “hold the hands” of the EPSB and walk them through the 200 titles and help them understand how to apply the Ministerial book ban Order.
Well is that hand holding offer still on or has this pause of the Ministerial Order means the Premier will keep her paws off her patronizing book reviewing now too?
THE BAD BANNED BOOK CLUB
I'm a tad disappointed with this pause of fascist policy. I was thinking of organizing a protest called the Bad Banned Book Club. We could have parents or grandparents bring a copy of a bad banned book and stage a sit in the Constituency Offices of every UCP MLA in Alberta.
The Bad Banned Book Club Members would take turns reading the “naughty bits” from the bad banned book they brought. The members could wag their fingers, roll their eyes, and cluck their tongues as they feign their disgust with the humanity of it all.
The club members could all vote on which passages were the most depraved. The winning reader of which would have to write a thank you note to the MLA, who’s office they had “occupied, ” thanking them for hosting the Bad Banned Book Club Read-In.
Perhaps a Letter to the Editor of the local newspaper would be appreciated, also thanking the local UCP MLA for their hospitality and “support” for the Bad Banned Book Club.
Ideally they would bring their bad banned book from their own library, or borrow it from their local library. Or better yet, buy a copy from an independent local book store to bring to the Bad Banned Book Club.
And after the parent or grandparents had read it, then gift the bad banned book to the age-appropriate child in their family. If that isn't possible, then donate it to their local library. Leaving the bad banned books with the UCP MLA to read seems like an exercise in futility.
GETTING IN SOME GOOD TROUBLE
It could have been fun protesting with such peaceful nonviolent disruptive free speech guerrilla warfare tactics.
Come to think of it, wht but do it anyway. A pause is no guarantee of a policy reversal. may just a temporary state of inertia from ineptitude.

Your Bad Banned Book Club protest sounds like fun! Sometimes the best way to fight petty, stupid authoritarianism is by ridicule.
I am in! Sign me up! UCP need to know who’s actually in charge and it isn’t them!!
