It’s all pretty hypothetical, especially because they’re at such a low level of organization and funding as far as I know. They need good candidates blanketing the province, local organization and above all $$$. That doesn’t happen overnight. Will the people who used to do that change horses from the UCP where likely a lot of them still are, however uncomfortably?
It is very hypothetical, but it is astonishing that Alberta Party membership has grown fourfold in the last month and donations tenfold.
Admittedly, from a small base. But it ain't nothing.
An AGM will occur in November, and a leadership campaign will follow.
The challenges are enormous, but so are they for the Forever Canadian Campaign. The driving force there is to send a message to the Separatists and Smith.
The driving force for supporting the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party will be the same, plus the need to escape the disastrous Two-party American political culture. A viable pluralist moderate third-party option is needed to get us better government.
Shifting between left and right majorities doesn't make for accountable government in either option.
