Ken - indeed, I think it will, and maybe I'll be one of those. The question is what % of Calgarian conservatives are 'Lougheed' middle of the road vs. Ted Morton disciples - but mostly how many stay home and vote with their feet. Also, there are a lot of new Albertans of all stripes - the youngsters we've hatched and raised, and those from outside the province/country ... their allegiances have a short shelf-life, they are young and smart. Many years ago you coined a phrase "right thinking-left leaning" about someone - and I think those words apply to Rachel Notley today. Ms. Smith thinks people are sheep who will be easily herded where she points. Methinks she is wrong. M
Disgruntled Alberta progressive and moderate conservatives usually stay home. Some might part their votes with the Alberta Party, especially in Calgary Elbow. That will be a factor in north Calgary and perhaps South West. I wonder how that will impact the rural constituencies too.
Ken - how you doin' old friend? I think Ms. Smith is, again, revealing several characteristics she's shown before - a) she's not good at thinking on her feet beyond pulling the trigger on she wanted to say; b) she's flip-flopped on too many issues too many times so her handlers are wanting to minimize future damage; c) her arrogant disrespect for intelligence of voters is palpable. I expect there will a UCP navel-gazing convention after they lose the election - they velcro and duct tape holding two factions of that party are breaking apart ... Great column - keep up the good work! Cheers, Mark
I hope you will share your depth of knowledge about the culture of Calgary in the CITIZENSIP MATTERS site. We need to know more about the value and issue drivers of Calgarians. Seems as thought the next government is going to be determined by by a very few Calgarians.
It is a simple matter: If a person, in this case a leader in a very significant role, does not understand both the written and the unwritten rules of the game they should not receive our endorsement. We, the voters in Alberta, did not put her in that position. She does not understand her role!

Absolutely correct Ken. 100%.

Absolutely
